This photograph was removed from Couste v. American Sugar Refining Co.[# 148449], filed in Orleans Parish Civil District Court in 1923. In the suit, Leon Couste, an employee of the company sues for compensation following an injury on the job. The company answers that Couste's injury was caused by his own negligence. The court rendered judgment for the plaintiff, but American Sugar Refinery appealed. We don't know the outcome of the appeal.
